Buenos Aires, capital city and venue of ILAFA-51
In 2010, Argentina is celebrating the Bicentennial of the May Revolution and the creation of its first national government. In this scenario, the 51st version of the Latin American Iron and Steel Congress will be held in Buenos Aires.
Buenos Aires stands out as a unique city in Latin America. Its noteworthy European-like architecture combines with Italian façades, parks and avenues designed in the French style, Spanish mansions and country homes with a touch of British. Buenos Aires has always been a cosmopolitan and open-door city, whose people call themselves “porteños”, because they feel part of a port city.
The city offers a large variety of options to visitors because of its rich cultural life. Film, theater and music festivals summon each year the most prestigious local and international artists. Also, on the occasion of the Bicentennial, the Colón Theater, one of the world’s most renowned opera houses, will reopen in 2010, after a recent renovation.
Every corner of this metropolis has its own spice. From modern Puerto Madero to trendy Palermo and the traditional San Telmo, visitors enjoy its variety in restaurants, small cafés, sports events, antiquity fairs or art galleries. |
